2nd Annual Zach Ruble Memorial Ride

Last year's inaugural Zach Ruble Memorial Ride - "A Ride to Remember" - was the brainchild of Kyle Pitakis. Kyle wanted an event that brought together people with the same mindset that Zach Ruble had ... a love of nature and respect for the outdoors. His vision of a small group bicycle ride in memoriam for a lost friend turned into a much larger and more inspired event than anyone could have anticipated. The turnout and show of support last year made for dreams of a larger event this year. Proceeds from last year's ride went to a scholarship fund set up through The Hayswood Foundation in Zach's name; said scholarship monies being geared toward recipients with a love and respect for the outdoors much as Zach had. Limestone Cycling League started as a group of local cyclists with a goal to promote health, safety, education, and awareness of bicycles in the community. Our common goals and interests made the decision to support the Zach Ruble Memorial Ride an easy one to make. We are honored and proud to help organize the ride for 2010!

2009's "Ride to Remember" consisted of plans for an 8 mile beginner loop and a 17 mile main loop for cyclists of differing ability levels. All last year's participants must have been inspired to give their all on the bike, as no one even opted to take the short loop! Through excellent planning and extensive volunteer work, the event went super smooth; even with a much higher turnout than anticipated. This year is looking to be twice the event, with the addition of a 30 mile and a 50 mile loop to give something more to the serious cyclist. The local Cub Scout Pack 201 is also holding a bike rodeo during the event, so even the youngest can come show their support!
